I see Cathcart is off to the barcodes for a seasons loan.

Hope he has a better time than Rossi did there. Looks a top prospect and i would prefer him playing in our reserves than theirs.

I think largely due to what happened with Rossi United now stipulate that a player loaned from them has to play a certain percentage of games (injury aside) If they don't the club has to pay United a sizeable loan fee far in excess of the normal one.

I don't mind a loan. Someone mentioned a permanent deal, which was a worry.

Tbh, given our level of success and the fact we've had such quality in the team at such good ages it isn't surprising we've had only a few break through. I do think there's a great chance of 2, 3 or more of the current crop making it in the next few years though. I'd be amazed if at least one of the twins and one of welbeck and Macheda don't and think cathcart has a great chance too.

You started it when a friend of a friend was one.

with rio, vidic, evans, brown and o'shea ahead of him a load is a really good idea for cathcart. and newcastle will storm through the championship by the looks of things and spend most of the time on the attack so he'll have a relatively easy time of it, which will be good for confidence and will let him learn to bring the ball out and distribute effectively.

The trouble is, not many break through, due to the ridiculous expectations of some of our "fans"

I.e, if we're not flattening teams 4-0 then everything gets picked apart and criticised, so these poor kids don't stand a chance

Don't think we've ever given young players a hard time (except Richardson).

Most fans would love for us to blood through more youngsters.

And considering the calibre of players we're currently signing (the Owens and Valencia's of this world) I see no harm in chucking Drinkwater et al in the deep end.
