Question The Indian language.

This is something that's been bugging me for a while (In an inquisitive way, not racist way )

Why are people of Indian origin unable to incorporate the letter 'w' into English words?

I was in town on Lunch and was approached by a fella who asked me where 'Natvest Bank' was

So, they use V instead of W, in Natwest, but that cricket commentator on SKY recently described Yuvraj Singh as a 'Wery good batsman'

WHAT

Glad someone brought this subject up.

I cannot stand it when Indians or Pakistanis speak English. I can't take them seriously, it sounds ridiculous.

india has several different languages if i'm not mistaken.

My favourite thing about indian people is when they are speaking in Hindi or whatever and they'll throw in an english phrase out of nowhere.

"ava aduavbiabae afbakevbaeunrb aojfbnaerightuphisarse agavboen."

Theyre not the only ones. It's usually when said letter doesn't exist in their own languages ('Indian' ).

Yer Japanese have trouble with Rs and Ls because they don't have them in Japanese. I think. A mate of mine called Colin taught English over there and had a colleague called Corinne. That led to many an amusing misunderstanding.

If I was Indian I'd pronounce my v's as w's and vice versa.

To be fair, I get more pissed off when people, of any race, say 'pacific' instead of 'specific'.

In Hindi, I don't think there's any difference between how you pronounce the V and W sound.

Individual mother tongues in India number several hundred[2]; the 1961 census recognized 1,652[3] (SIL Ethnologue lists 415). According to Census of India of 2001, 29 languages are spoken by more than a million native speakers, 122 by more than 10,000. Three millennia of language contact has led to significant mutual influence among the four language families in India and South Asia. Two contact languages have played an important role in the history of India: Persian and English.[4]
