i think fergie at the time was trying to do what wenger was doing buying random players and trying to turn them in to worlds best.

Smith is/was a decent prem player and a very decent lad off it, knew a lad who coached him through from 12 and speaks very highly of him. He just wasnt world class.

i was one of the minority who didn't have a problem with him just because he was from lids. if that was the case i should hate rooney the scouse bastard :rullseyes:

My favourite Quinton Fortune memory is him coming on against Madrid in the 4-3 and proceeding to kick lumps out of everything and instigate more needle in those 15 mins than you would normally see over 3/4 high pressure games.

Not the most talented footballer but a useful player. I seem to remember one match in those transitional years between 03-06 when Utd put out a midfield of Fortune-Keane-Phil Nev-Fletcher( the early version). Tremendous creativity there

Isn't Fortune in the championship now?
