Why's that? Surely the younger players would be less likely to see it as a big deal and more likely to come out.

In the states the first footballers to come out were college footballers (i think)

Yeah, you're probably right. Just that with the courage and resilience it'll need to be the first, you might expect a seasoned player to be more likely to take it on. Especially one who's about to leave the country, like Defoe or Cole.
