To simply 'not turn up' in a European Cup Final is unforgivable really.
Indeed.

But compared to 'not turning up' against Burnley and Leeds, I find it pales in comparison.

Same formation at the Emirates, I take it that was to 'not lose' too?

Seriously...
*translation* Ronaldo was trying to win the game on his own for a bit.

He's right, they scored quite late in the game and we had no time to recover.

For about 9minutes then.

The Emirates was a different match against different opponents. It worked beautifully because apart from anything else we're a far better team than Arsenal. It clicked on the night.
But we didn't have Fletcher in Rome...which was key.

We should have put pressure on their Back4 by playing 2 upfront & 2 wingers to occupy their stand in fullbacks - Silvinhio FFS

I would say the start was enough to suggest we weren't out there to contain them.

Not sure how its the gaffers fault that the spine of the team decided to play like @#%&!s the rest of the match.

I don't think SAF could have done much to be honest. They were obviously a far superior team to us and their midfield toyed with us as times. Bit hard to do much tactically when you haven't got the ball most of the time.

That's already been solved tbh. It was the gladiators youtube clip Guardiola showed his team of warriors before the match. SAF showed Coronation street.

what cracks me up is that if Tenerife had a striker with even half the talent of Ickle Michael Owen, they'd have been 5-0 up in the first ten minutes.

Barca's defence is currently worse than ours. FACT.

it's unbelievable that a team like United can win 3 titles on the trot in a league that includes the likes of arsenal and chelsea, whining southern @#%&!s though they may be. but could they fluke their way to the s/f and back-to-back finals of a competition that the likes of milan and, gasp (for i can barely speak their name) barcelona and breath, play in as well? surely not.

He's probably more 'explosive' & more imposing than Messi. Good in the air, lightning quick etc..

But Messi's as good a dribbler as I've ever seen. He's up there with Maradona.
He's also got more finesse...more graceful in his general play.
His ability is less about 'tricks' & more about an ability to make the ball do what he wants.
He also doesn't pout & whine at the Ref every 5 seconds either.

They're both outstanding players mind you.
I'd have Ronaldo back at United like a shot. Madrid looked almost as pedestrian as us last night.

He isn't even close and never has been. Apart from in the air(mainly because of Ronaldo's height) Messi is better at just about everything.

Not a bitter post, have always held this view.

They are both great players, 2 of the best 3 players in the world imo.

Messi scores just as many goals as Ronaldo which people never seem to realise.
