Default Andrew Cole Appreciation Thread

5 League Titles
2 FA Cups
1 Intercontinental cup
1 European Cup
Better than a goal evey other start (without penalties)
Movement
Fantastic workrate
Put the team before any of his personal problems
Red through and through
I am pretty sure he's 3rd in all time assists too PL wise(someone may prove me wrong or right though)
Most Underrated player of his generation.

Not a bully and never bad mouthed us. A true legend.

Default Crumpsall's monthly I once met, ..I knew/know Andy Cole thread..

..We could've done far better than him, and probably would've won the European Cup if we'd paired a genuine world class finisher alongside Eric.

Journeyman and bottler..

Not worthy of hatred, but certainly not deserving of the pedestal you love to put him on..

Not quite true, he did score a goal for England.

Terrific player, the only reason he didn't do as well with England is because the England team was/is shit.

Would rather have had him than SOP any day.

Robbo, very true. But how much better would England have performed if he had been given more starts?

Anyone's guess, I suppose, but I would have liked to have seen him given more of a chance.

Fountz, re Greenhoff... I apologise, you're right of course. But journeyman and bottler? Harsh.

19 goals in 42 European appearances is a pretty good stat.

The reason we didn't win more in Europe was down to the three foreigner rule which meant we couldn't play the same team in Europe as we did in the league. We really shouldn't complain though, because that rule is also responsible for Scholes, Butt, Beckham & the Nevilles coming through as younsters and probably aided our domination of the premier league as half the team was rested for every european match.

It's a shame some people can't be satisfied with the success we did have, rather than criticise some of our top players and say we would have won more without them

His best performanc for us was the 5-1 drubbing of Newcastle where he scored 4, he was class that day.

Think Kevin Keegan either picked him the week after or snubbed him the week before for England not quite sure

So many class goals as well.

The last minute bicycle kick against Marseille (?), to equalise?

The Barca 1-2, the lobs, and that goal against Spurs.

That Marseille goal wasnt last minute....didnt we win that game 2-1? Think Bakayoko put them ahead and Cole equalised around the hour??
