at no point in his career has rooney even be regarded by non english people as one of the top 5 players in the world.

Even in a 'frustrating' season by his standards he still scored over 20 goals, still scored stoppage time winners in front of the Stretford End against AC Milan, still lit up Old Trafford (particuarly between Feb & early May) ...& scored a beautiful goal at Goodison that effectively sealed the Title.
