oh, right. like scholes playing left wing for england? ok.

actually... not so much. just needed keane to play a bit more like neville p instead of thinking he was a playmaker.

After further thought I'd pick Rio. Genuine world class over a 5-6 year period and the best defender in the world at one point IMO. Leader, character, winner and he'd make all the difference if you put him into the team

Dave

Valencia Baily Rio Shaw/Blind

Herrera Carrick Pogba

Mata Ibra Martial

Stick him in this side as the midfield brain alongside Pogba and Herrera and he'd make everything click. Just imagine those looped through balls and weighted slide rule passes for Rashford and Martial to run onto.

What a disgusting post.

Veron is the most naturally gifted central midfielder in terms of pure technical ability we've had in the last 30 years. Scholes comes closest, but even he couldn't strike a dead ball, or spray a pinpoint 100 yard pass with the outside of his boot on the half volley, or dig out a perfect cross with a rabona like Veron could.

Comparing him with Nicky Butt, ffs.
100 yard volleyed pass

Pretty impressive considering the OT pitch is only just over 100 yards long tbf

We've had better individuals for sure, but none that made everyone better in the way that Keane did.

You could argue that the sides of Fergie's best era didn't need/contain Keane (06-09)

Edit: given the mental weakness of this team though ...
