Why are people suggesting we drop Mata?

perhaps because herrera offers a more dynamic option and we'd like to see some pace and movement instead of more dawdling (and the odd incisive pass)? mata would be fine against newcastle, but I want to see herrera.

Mata and Herrera in tandem produced our best football last season

And Fellaini, to draw attention to the opposite side. Do you want to go down that path again?

Not sure we need to play Carrick/Schwein and Schneiderlin in every game. Herrera and Schneiderlin would be an interesting combination for certain games.

I think he'll bring Schwein in for Carrick, with no other changes.

I love Herrera as much as the next man but I'd not move Depay or Mata from the wings to accommodate him. Especially after Depay's performance midweek.

Your brain works weird.

I'd quite like to see Schweini start for Carrick. Huge Carrick fan but against Newcastle we should have no problem controlling possession and we'll need that to happen in Bruges. Herrera could then start as the third midfielder this weekend.

Is Fellaini still suspended for this?

true, but we didn't have a bagful of midfielders and memphis then. all of carrick, schneiderlin, schweinsteiger and herrera are capable of good passing. for newcastle, we could afford herrera and a couple of more defensive-minded midfielders, with memphis-rooney-mata ahead, but I prefer the balance of the team I put up above and I'd like to see it sooner rather than later. at least we have options that don't involve rooney or fellaini in midfield.

No I'd like to stick on the Mata and Herrera path and leave Fellaini on the bench. he does have his uses, namely as a giant lumbering microphone with a knack for goals

Same team with Mata behind Rooney and Young on wing (Yes I know but he actually has a bit of pace about him and can put a cross in most the time)
