If he was talking purely from a financial point of view, he’s still wrong, given the quality of squad we lost. Quite a few of the older generation in the pub reckon England would have won the Wolrd Cup in 62, as well as what we’d have achieved if the crash hadn’t happened. That’s without the winning machine we would have become, Busby’s greater enthusiasm and the non-playing staff we would not have lost.

There has been an incredible amount of damage done to the club over the last decade which could well take another 5 years to fix, optimistically.

So I can see where he’s coming from but given the state of social media nowadays it was an ill considered comment.

Not a very bright comment. Can't see that going down well with Rio.
