With Scholes retired and Brown almost certain to leave, we now have absolutely no-one capable of a true reducer

The word 'great' is thrown about far too often these days - players get tagged with it after a few half decent performances.

Scholes however is the one player who genuinely merits it, not just an English game great but a worldwide great - a truly exceptional player who would not be out of place in any line-up.

It's crazy how England fans and media in general didn't appreciate what they had in him - worshipping the higher profiled but far less talented Beckham. And then to favour Forehead and Lampsie over him ... £#%&!ing hell, insanity on an epic scale.

Fantastic player, one of the best in the Club's history - been a total pleasure to watch him.

Thumbs up Re: Official: Paul Scholes Retires

The Gary Barlow to Beckham's Mark Owen, Giggsy's Robbie Williams and the Nevile Bros other 2.

Probably my fave Utd player -thanks for so many fantastic memories. What a truly great player.

Yeah, it's just not the same though, they don't induce a wince from the spectator for any other reason than they have either got themselves booked or sent off.

Scholes and Brown could have you sympathising with the opponent at times.

Rumors that United will invite Zidane to play in Scholes's testimonial, and Iniesta has said he would play if invited

We should invite them all, Iniesta, Messi, Xavi and Busquets, then hold the £#%&!ers hostage and make them play for us, possession is nine tenths of the law.

I wonder what level he'll be coaching at. There's arguments for all levels.

Deserves all the plaudits. Deserved them and more years ago.
