Default Team v Spurs - The Official Carling Cup Final Thread.

I'd like us to win this so i want a mix of the youth players and experienced first teamers. Summat like :-

Foster(Don't you play that Polish clown Fergie!)
Rafael(if fit, Evra if not)
Vidic
Evans(if fit, if not Rio)
Fabio
Nani
Gibbo
Anderson
Giggs
Rooney
Welbeck

I'd be very suprised if Anderson starts, though I can see him coming on. Swap Rooney for Tevez (could do with more minutes & carling cup top scorer) and I think thats the right team

Well, Anderson did play for the reserves last night didn't he? Presumed it was getting him fit for Sunday?

He did but he's been out for a bit of a while now, reserves is one thing but I can't see him being thrown into a cup final from the start-one would imagine he would be slightly off the pace

Rafael-iho has done his ankle in, apparently, and is out for at least a month.

Therefore:

Foster (Don't you play that Polish clown Fergie!)

Evra
Vidic
Rio
Fabio

Nani
Gibbo
Anderson
Welbeck

Tevez
Rooney

I’d like:

Foster

Rafael (O’Shea if Rafa not fit)
Vidic
Rio
Fabio

Scholes
Gibson
Nani

Rooney
Tevez
Welbeck

But I reckon we’ll see:

Foster

Rafael (O’Shea)
Vidic
Evans
Evra (O’Shea if Rafael is fit)

Ronaldo
Gibson
Fletcher
Nani

Tevez
Rooney

And don‘t worry, Bedders, Foster will start. I promise.

I think the whole reason Fergie played Krusty against Blackburn is so that he could give him a game and still allow Foster to play on Sunday. He tends to alternate the two. Had he not given Krusty that game, it would’ve been his turn this Sunday.

I'm willing to state my legendary Fred Tish status on it (ahem).

Him and Gibson are 'deffos' to start IMO.

Must we do this everytime?

He's part of our squad and we need to get used to it. Life's too short etc...

I'm told Rafael is going to be out for 5-6 weeks at least, ligaments.
Interestingly Fabio played for the reserves at right back last night whereas Eckersley who is a right back played left back, which I can only assume was on Fergie's orders to try him out in that position.
Anderson played too and looked good given it was his first game for a while.

Not that I'm too concerned by Spurs, but I'll be surprised if Redknapp starts with two up top. Think Zakora or Huddlestone will play instead of one of them with Modric playing behind the striker.

I hope we £#%&!ing batter them and Harry's left twitching like a £#%&!wit come the end.

im not sure, i think he will go for it. he knows theyre not the best defensively but they can cause problems going forward, and i expect he thinks utd will play a few fringe players which he will see as weakness. im still confident it will be a clear win for utd

I think our fringe players have shown anything but being the weak link this season.

I doubt he will but it'd be folly to underestimate Utd/expect an easier ride because of the players likely to play. I don't think he'll get it and I'll be happy as leisure suit larry if we beat them and Harry's left scrapping for a decent finish in the PL.
