What's the situation regarding the best 3rd place team. Would have thought Ireland have a chance

Ireland have 2 goodplayers (mccarthy, coleman), one decent (long) and a load of donkeys. John O'Shea is the captain ffs and most of the rest I've never heard off. I'm happy enough with a big playoff game, hopefully against holland if that's possible.

What a shame.

Thought the two best third-place teams went through? Are there two teams with more than 18 points? Unlucky if so.

People go on about the pace of the pl but to me that seems like it was at a higher pace (especially compared to United games.) Crazy frenetic and low quality.

beating germany guaranteed the play offs. That's why there was celebrating. We'll be celebrating tonight too unlike the english who would've just smashed up various bars and small businesses in poland.

I don't really care what England fans do. Everybody hates them anyway and there's always crazy hooligans in places like Poland who will be itching to prove themselves against England's fans.

Ireland really are the international equivalent of Liverpool fans. Desperate to be loved by everyone and pat themselves on the back for how wonderful they are.

Nah. They just aren't vicious thugs is all. England fans are thugs because they still think they deserve to win the world cup or the euros and when they don't they go on a rampage because they hate foreigners and especially when those foreigners have beaten them in a game of football. Irish people know our team is shit and has no chance but support them anyway. Beating johnny foreigner isn't in our dna the way it is with the english.

You shouldn't be so ashamed of your roots.

Ashamed? Far from it.

England fans are what they are. Whisper it, but Man Utd fans have also been known to smash places up in the past and fight. It's nothing to do with 'johnny foreigner'. It's far more primal and tribal than that.

Got no problem with the Irish lads.

You see this is the difference.

Everyone takes the piss out of England/Scotland whoever and everyone joins in.

Take the piss out of Ireland and people take it personal. Even the plastic ones.

Well for someone who could play for the Ireland if you were any good at football you seem to attack Ireland an inordinate amount of the time. If you aren't ashamed they why hop in the thread just to laugh at Ireland and it's fans? Seems like over-compensation. I can take it from ginners as he's actually english but it hurts when it comes from an irish man.

Be a good couple of games no matter who it is...or is it just one game?

Two legs. Croatia, Sweden and Ukraine are the ones to avoid obviously.

The others are definite banana skins, certainly with our luck anyway.
