Aside from the fact he keeps missing easy chances and costing us points?

He is 23 and has played about 50 games of football, he's hardly a young whipper snapper Phil Jones is 23(?) and gets tons of shit for not being the finished article, why is that.

Just because he is fast (is he even fast?) doesn't mean he is good. He belongs in the championship not at Manchester United.

The majority of hate probably comes from the fact that he has done £#%&! all in his entire 'career'

Mata isn't fast and built like Akinfenwa so he is shit He is 10x the player lingard will ever be.

Mata shouldn't be played out wide at all.

Stick him in behind Rooney and get some fast players out wide. Martial one side and ideally a new signing on the other.

Herrera in Midfield with one of the Schweiny Schniedy twins

you clueless £#%&!tard.

Lingard is what is known as a late developer, and 50 games is really £#%&! all for a player of just 23, Phil Jones is probably close to 200 games, so he is a youngster in terms of experience. Not all players can burst on to the seen as a teenager.

The team has created the square route of £#%&! all for a month without him, he comes back in and he scores, puts Rooney through for a one on one which he £#%&!ed up, missed a decent chance himself and grafted his arse off to the point that it was visibly obvious he was no longer on the pitch as the fullback behind him was suddenly exposed.

He's not the finished article, and I wouldn't suggest he's going to be a 1st team player for United for the next decade, but he's a sight better option than the bag of £#%&! that is Mata in that front 3, and has done far more to justify his inclusion than Memphis at this point in time. He's missed a chance or two, but who the £#%&! hasn't, at least he's actually getting chances due to his movement and willingness to get in behind. He's already a very good player and will have a good career and is doing £#%&!ing well for us this season.

If you want to play Mata, he has to be where Herrera has been playing. Problem is he's too lightweight and not dynamic enough to offer any assistance to the midfield or to get up and down the pitch, and he is easily bullied in there, that's why Louis won't play him there, not would Moyes and nor would Mourinho.

I think everyone agrees Mata shouldn't be out wide, he isn't a winger, id still prefer him there to Lingard though.

The ONLY thing Lingard has over Mata is pace. Mata has much better passing, crossing and finishing ability, much better. He has scored and assisted a lot more than Lingard.

Anfield this Sunday I know who I would want closing in on goals from a tight angle or making a run into the box to seemingly score and impossible bicycle kick

He has as many goals from open play this season as Lingard. There's a major difference in number of games played..

Mata should be on the bench and no more on Sunday, and I think he will be.

Mata is a better player, but lingard is better for what we need right now.

Mata was rightly dropped and lingard has earned the right to stay there.

Lingard atm. When Mata's time comes again, he needs to take it.

If we're basing team selection on the corresponding fixture of last season, then he should start.

But then so should Fellaini. So £#%&! that.

The reality is that Mata has been very poor recently as an attacking player in a barren run for the side. He drops to the bench and we score 3, with his replacement getting one of them. I really don't see much justification in bringing him back in right now.

And all that can be said without judging either player.

Polls on here are never truthful anyway. While LvG was destroying the club he was still getting 80%+

Point missed by many. Thought his subbing after the miss seemed more punitive than tactical and quite petty. How the £#%&! Fellaini stays on and lingard gets hooked is beyond me.

Might have been treated more sympathetically if he wasn't a repeat offender there, tbf.
