Duh. There's a clause where he can request not to play if playing will hurt his brand more than not playing.

That's his 5 game preseason over.

I think both are pretty crucial. Think Rooney is third choice in both of his two favoured positions. Will do him good to accept a lesser role, like Scholes and Giggs did.

Partly, but it's also been about fluency and flow when going from defence to attack. The play was going through mata instead of Rooney, and mata kept the ball flowing instead of constantly giving the ball away. We also had a number of counter attacks today that usually break down.

Rooney's absence also allowed other players to fill the vacuum and influence the game.

United fans moan for ages about never scoring from corners, and now we get three, it's apparently reason to criticise.

Nothing's ever perfect, which is why fans would be happier enjoying the good moments rather than focusing on the imperfections.

Refreshing change from 90% of pundits saying he has to start every week.
It's amazing how the narrative is changing.

Very good wasn't he?

Excellent delivery from set piece, Rashford's goal was from brilliant clever buildup.

Yeah, its unknown for sides to slack off after being 4-0 up at HT

It even happened with SAF sometimes.
