Football Kanchelskis

One of my favourites growing up.

He's got a book out. If this extract is anything to go by, it will be grim drivel that reads as if written by a teenager.

The Guardian picture of him holding the FA Cup celebrating United's 1996 win.

Did you ever try Robbo's book? He is my all time fave, but my God his bio was unreadable. It was like something a 12 year old would turn into a teacher on how they spent their Summer.

"The screening of football matches in the Soviet Union was very basic. There would be absolutely no build-up and no full-time analysis."

Sounds great to me tbh.

the book, however, reads like a Jamie Jackson article run through Google translate half a dozen times.

Recent revelations/allegations would suggest that he was so fast because, as a young sportsman in the USSR in the 1980s, he would have been doped to the eyeballs.

Great, just, pissed all over some more of my happy teenage memories.

Used to love Andrei. Remember his first goal - screamer of a left-foot volley direct from a corner at the Stretford End. Winter 1991, give or take IIRC (??)

I was working in the Casinos in and around Manchester back then, he was often in gambling for pretty high stakes.

What a player. Incredible to think his best season for United was better than Giggs' best season for United.

Remember when he was playing for Rangers and he stood on the ball and did a little 'lookey' pose.

True, it is incredible to think that. And bait.

Kanchelskis was great in 94/95, scored plenty of goals but he was an utterly one dimensional player, as shown by him falling off a cliff after his move to Italy, without the space to kick and run he struggled.

Kanchelskis was a fantastic player , it's still unbelievable that he left at the peak of his powers ,and never recaptured the magic he produced for Utd ,the biggest mistake i have seen by a player . whoever influenced him leaving and i think it was forced ,should hang their heads in shame.

He was better the following season at Everton tbf.

Italy has never been a place for wingers. As seen by how many they have produced who play the traditional role
