Well, you had a chance from the giraffe and then the VDV shot when Chico gave it him and didn't really threaten much aside from that. I think we had as good if not better chances.

Don't think VDS made a save worthy of the name did he? Gomes made 2 or 3 IIRC.

the entire midfield is getting slated now then, even Fletcher, finally

i think scholes and giggs should be ashamed of themselves for still being so good at their age

Yup, you can't expect a Spurs fan to see it like that tbh.

Gomes was the busier of the 2 keepers & on the whole we were very average.

Spurs, City & Arsenal are all being made to look good because ourselves & Chelsea are so off the boil this season.
As has already been pointed out, if Rooney was on form we'd have the Champagne on ice for number 19 already.

Throb, a question, is anything written about a United player that isn't glowing praise considered 'slating' in your World?

Fletch isn't being slated from what I've read, rather questioned as to his form and even provided with reasons for it in most places.

gomes was never really troubled though, rooney had a couple of very poor efforts from outside the box IIRC.

rio and vidic defended superbly. the 2 chances crouch and vdv had were sitters.

spurs had 60% possesion and 15 shots at goal to utd's 7. to say spurs rarely threatened is laughable.

Both Rooney's strikes that Gomes tipped around the post were decent enough efforts.
I don't remember VDS making a save of note.
Most of the Spurs shots in those stats were long range row z'ers from Palacios & Bale.

I thought we were very average in midfield & upfront yesterday, but I never really felt we would concede.

Spurs created 1 chance in the match, the other was handed to them by Chico. Given that they had nearly 60% of the ball, that's £#%&!ing rubbish.

As you say we were pretty mediocre yesterday but I never felt they threatened us much and if we'd been anything but hapless in the final 3rd I think we'd have won.

Of Spurs 15 strikes, 7 or 8 were hopeful 30 yard plus efforts and 2 or 3 were direct freekicks, which Mike Dean wanted to give them plenty of practice at . Palacios hit the corner flag a couple of times. 3 times Spuds threatened, Crouch ad VDV near post efforts 1st half, and VDV shot after Cheech laid it on for him. The first 1 they should've scored, the other 2 they would be lucky to score.

Fletcher is being slated and rightly so, it could be argued. Has been amusing me for a long time now that the same people who bang on and on and on about a perceived lack of technique or a combination of lack of creativity or ability to run with the ball through the middle are the same people who stick Fletcher down as the first name in their preferred midfield.

The point is made repeatedly that it is a sign of United's weakness that Giggs and Scholes can still command a place. It is a laughable position to take imo, because they are two of the best players in the entire league.

giggs and scholes would grace any team in the league.

chelsea, city and arsenal would die to have them in their sides.

Not sure Mankini has a place for that kind of player in his midfield
