That would have been disastrous IMO and seriously underestimates the managerial skills of Frogson.

Barca and Madrid are vastly more wealthy than their competitors which means they have far better players than them in every position pretty much. Their only competition is each other. They don't have oil clubs or a fair TV deal like we do here either so they can get away with promoting ex players and not risk their positions of dominance. United can't.
but that's exactly how the Club has behaved post-Fergie.
It's also exactly how a lot of people behave on here. Slating our own players & drooling over the latest 'magnificent bastard' at Dortmund or wherever.
Completely underestimating exactly what qualities are needed to play for United.

Probably why the manager has taken to digging most of the @#%&! out now in public, because they've had a free ride in the last 3 years with the managers taking the flak for everything.

losing 30 league games in 3 seasons ffs. Manchester United.

Mourinho imho is trying to build some identity back into a squad that is severely lacking any leadership or balls. It's important that we get better players in the summer but more importantly we get some big players in who have the balls and attitude to play for a big club, not go hiding for the last 10 mins when we're chasing games.

He was a disastrous appointment. Absolute £#%&!ing insanity.
we hadn't been in slow decline since 2009. but the fact is we have won 2 league titles in the last 8 seasons, yet have only just this season begun to change our core group. and even then jose had to back-track and bring carrick back in as default because he's still the best we have.

imo we could have been far bolder in 2010 and we've stood still since 2011. the 1 league title we won since then was through buying a proper class striker at his peak.

one area we have really gone backwards is in terms of leadership. bringing zlatan in this season was absolutely crucial for the young attacking players. giving them a chance to work with someone who is ultra professional. but it's damning of the players already at the club. mourinho often eulogises about young and carrick in this regard too, but the fact you count these crucial veterans now on 4 fingers (inc. valencia) says it all.

We had been in decline. The squad had been neglected with cheap buys like Obertan and Bebe FFS. All our best players were the wrong side of 30 except fatty and he allegedly wanted out.

Testament to Freggle for keeping them performing so well for so long.

Moyes was an absolute disaster but both LVG and Jose spent some dollar strengthening because they knew the squad was weak compared to our rivals.

Yep

Honestly think that with the squad we had and a couple of new faces Ancelotti or Mou would have won the league if they'd replaced Fergie

Instead that ginger #@&%! comes in, clears out the back room staff that has won league titles and European cups and his only signing was £#%&!ing Fellaini

Also like Sparky said Gill leaving exactly the same time as Fergie was a HUGE blow and that single summer set us back years.

A shit version of Madrid.

Circa winter 2015.
