I think what Cream is referring to is the 'ironic' use of the term Yid by the Spurs fans, not the hissing/gas chamber shit.

Used to sing 'cook, cook, cook, cook a tottenham fan; that's the beauty of gas sssssss', after the British Gas advert of the time.

Pretty sure Baddiel was not present. Also pretty sure everybody was aware that the vast majority of travelling Spurs fans were not in fact Jewish.

There was also an awful take on City's Imre Varadi song that knowingly ignored the fact that he was in fact Bulgarian, and not of Asian origin.

Well for one thing, he is actually of Hungarian extraction.

(turned down a chance to play for their national team, apparently)

I can't confirm it was sung at Old Trafford but neither can I recall where else I might have heard it...

What worries me now is that this post might end up being investigated for historical offence-taking and Badiel latches on to it for a Guardian column. Cream in the dock.
