I actually can’t remember his first Chelsea team being this turgid.

That's the one great season I mentioned, is that really making the most of it?

Millions in the bank, lots of notches on the bedpost

Wasted it did Dwight, absolutely wasted it. Lies asleep at night crying at what could've been, apparently.
The brexit result seems so much clearer now. Thank you.

What would the great George Best have made of Dwight Yorke being so profligate with his talent?

They had by far the best squad in the league at that point, with both Utd and Arsenal in a transitional phase. Even with that advantage they were more efficient that free flowing, and often times preferred to kill a game when in a lead than push on and score more.

Entertaining the fans is not on his list of priorities. It might happen simply because of the level of talent he is working with or a game situation.

They weren't, nor were his Inter or RM sides.

Probably, yes. It’s not like he was a potential world beater really. Winning the Treble and 3 titles on the spin... what else was there for him to do?

Was it him Keano was talking about when he said he looked around the dressing room and saw lads going "right that's me done for life", they'd lost the hunger to achieve in doing it?

Probably.

He still signed him at Sunderland though so.

They were a better footballing team. Far better at passing and moving than United were. And they switched off at Christmas.

Neither guardiola or klopp took over teams that were that far away from the style they wanted to implement. Same with pochettino come to think of it. United had two years of van gaal preparing the ground and were still light years away from guardiola type football. Half of them can’t pass it 5 yards and the speed of play and movement off the ball has been shit for at least 5 years.

So what we needed was tactics to make it worse.

Inspired choice.

Given that shite already predated mourinho, perhaps it’s not the tactic.

No I get it. He's doing it the cutting corners way, getting the ground out results to keep the club in the money league. Not really that bad a thing, least we know it's not forever, but it is shit to watch.
