Who’s the guy who always does the German names (both players and teams) with a proper exaggerated German accent. Comes across like he’s desperate for everyone to know he’s fluent.

Also get annoyed at the guys who pronounce Bruno as “Broon Fernandsh”

Thought this thread was going to be about one of the dullest rivers in England not a vastly overhyped and overrated full back

It was Barry Davies.

It was Lee Chapman or Trevor Francis that always said Can Toner

I tried to debunk this upon reading it too but whats missing? Must be the World Club Cup or Super Cup unless we're going to point out the Europa League.

it's the europa league.

A simple easy one but it's obvious. He hasn't won the UEFA Cup.

And he doesn't deserve some kind of reverence because he's won a lot of things. Calling him by his first name is symptomatic of the kind of 'chummy' affectionate tone with which Liverpool players are referred to in the media, which coincidentally, is infested with ex liverpool players. It's the same thing that saw "stevie g" creep into the pundit vernacular.

Nobody ever called david beckham "becks" whilst on tv, i don't recall martin tyler or anyone calling Wayne Rooney "wazza" on comms.

No, as usual because it's the nations darlings, special treatment is afforded.

Winds me up people pronouncing Moran and McGrath, as MorAN and McGraTH, especially people who should know better, like Big Ron.
