I agree. Those three games were poor from him, I wanted more and expect more.

But those three games we played well.

He's got a wonderful touch and is clearly one of the most skilful players in the squad.

However, I can't shake the feeling that he's, well, a little fat.

I like to draw a comparison with chubby Steve who was the best player on our 5-a-side team.

Yep, he obviously will always contribute in the sense that he very rarely gives the ball away, even if he does float around games a bit.

I understand LvG wanting to have a more pure midfielder in there, but against today's opposition Fellaini wasn't needed.

Another one who will excel when we have a full compliment of midfielders on the pitch. I know we ignored the whole midfield thing for a fair few years and last season we kind of bypassed them altogether but they are a good starting point for any team.

Loves a bit of Mata I does... Prefer him to a bit of wiggy any day.

Let's not pretend he's been playing well recently. He was non-existent against West Brom
However he is a much better attacking midfielder than Fellaini or Rooney

Priority number 1 for LvG at the moment is to get a balanced functioning attack as currently we are barely creating a clear chance
