Football In JM’s two seasons at United, we've finished 24 and 19 points from the top.

In LVG’s two seasons, we finished 17 and 15 points behind the Champions.

I don't see how we can control what points other teams get apart from when we play them, we need to look after ourselves and the rest will look after its self.

We can't, and there was an acceptance of that in Jose's first Chelsea spell, that they were nailed on for 90+ points and that we'd do well to get near, but those seasons were spent changing and improving the squad for the long term and by the third season we were ready to hit the ground running and keep pace and put them under pressure.

If it takes another 2 years for this lot to get their heads round it, half the squad will be geriatric ffs, no chance of keeping pace with a squad packed with vivrant young to peak age players with a bunch of journey men in the 30's I'm afraid, regardless how loyal they are or how willing they are to follow the managers dour tactical instruction.

Points as a measure?

We got 2 more points than in the Treble year therefore we're now than then.

2 trophies last season.. Cup final next week, 2 years in a row back in Champions League, esaily qualified this season. Mourinho’s first job was get us back in The Champions League every season, he has done that while winning trophies, next up is to get his own stamp on the team and get us playing better football like his Chelsea team, his Madrid team, his Inter team, s couple of full backs and a couple of midfielders married in with Sanchez, Pogba, Matic, Lukaku and we will see an improvement.

I refer you to my comment on the state of the league. Forest would've been comfortably upper mid-table this year nqat.

Mou's two seasons: 122 league goals.
LvG's two seasons: 111 league goals.

£300m for 5 extra league goals a season?

Weird when you add it all up tbh.

I think that *is* an exaggeration. They would certainly have avoided relegation in some comfort though.

the fact that those goals got one manager in to the champs league and the other not are the ones that matter. Neither is good enough tbh

LVG got into the CL places in his first season pal. Mourinho didn’t. Second season, the other way round obviously.
