Football Striker options

Over the past two games it's become more apparent, than ever, that we desperately need a striker. We all knew this in the summer, of course, but it now has to the club's top priority.

Who is out there, realistically, that we would a) be targeting and b) would want to join.

This is for the one euro/world sages...

It's a tough one as there's hardly a surplus of quality no.9's out there, most seem to be similar in many regards to what we already have in Martial, Rashford, Anthony & to a lesser extent Sancho.

Players that are likely to make a step up & are young enough like Gakpo & Leao at Milan don't just turn up & slot in as a no.9 but would at least give options & they score goals.

The reality is we need to have a fluid front three with pace, if we think back to the Rooney, Ronaldo & Saha forward line that was "like the Red Arrows" coming at you, there was an abundance of pace, power & technique as well as tremendous hunger & I just don't see that in todays game... too much too young, too little appetite to work their %@#$&!s off & very little in the way of player development once you get to become a first team player at Utd.

ETH needs to be empowered & have a couple of the first XI ruthlessly disposed of asap because they're either not capable or just lazy. Or sadly, in the case of Ronnie, just too old.

If we want a classic no.9 I can only really think of Patrik Schick at Leverkusan that might fit the mould but he's also made of cheese & the PL might ruin him. We don't have a great record of transferring players from there to here either.

In short... Probably another Dutchy in Gakpo that we tried for in the summer?

Toney would absolutely flourish in a ETH system.

That kid who's supposedly going from one Red Bull team to another. Make them an offer they can't refuse.

Or Big Toney. Could be the new Dion Dublin.

I'd go with someone who a) is a striker and b) is aged between 24 and 30.
I think the club will go in another direction however.

We are in a mess up front but, searching for positives, we only need a half-decent striker to massively improve us.

We will end up over-paying for someone totally unsuitable no doubt.

Gakpo is the one most likely given we all but had an agreement in the summer, and he’s going to be vastly cheaper than any of the other options out there.

I think Osimhen would completely change our frontline, the lad works his %@#$&!s off and loves a scrap, absolute £#%&!ing nightmare to play against. Raw though, gets injured a lot and would cost a £#%&!ing fortune. Toney would be the Lidl version.

Reality is we’re getting £#%&! all unless Ronaldo takes his considerable contract elsewhere. It’ll be summer before we give it serious thought, and we’ll move so slowly we’ll miss the best options.

Go along with every para. There was a time when utd could just steam in and grab anyone of them but those days are long gone. Toney is decent enough, but there must be equivalents out there for a lot less, he's not Andy Cole. No way Osimhen leaves Napoli to come to utd. You'd hope that ETH has his eye on a few who aren't big names already
