He is already bad at his job and won’t last long either I suspect. But again, it’s about understanding the situation. His very specific and persistent criticism of the manager while his best mate was assistant stank. And it’s no surprise that an already paranoid nutcase like Mourinho agreed.

I agree, but the only choice really is either to take the job and be honest or don’t take it because of the ramifications of honesty down the road.

Regardless, I think the 92’ers clearly misjudged their value once their playing careers were over. Fergie would have had them all over the club, but that would have been a decision based on sentimentality and his own power base rather than merit.

What about Woodward and the Gimps do you reckon they see them as a threat?

If you look at the Class of 92 they've bought their own football club, who are absolutely p*ssing their league again this year and will definitely be in the football league within 2 years.

Salford FC have won televised FA Cup ties and had their own documentary series, similarly the Class of 92 have starred in a movie about themselves.

Commercially at what point are they perceived to be a threat by the Old Trafford boardroom, all said and done they're just across the forecourt?

Just slag them all off. Not just the manager. He also got the point he was being used by BT a bit. Even when we won they’d put a battery in back and try to turn the angle. Some of the time he didn’t even look comfortable doing it.

Spot on about their naivety. The funny thing about Giggs is that he played for United for twenty years and was never identified as a future manager. Moyes is sacked, he looks great in the suit and suddenly he felt he was in with a gold shout of beating Mou to the job.

Pip seems to have drifted out of the game too. Surely between them they could find a job and try and do something together.

In what sense? That if they got too much power at the club they might try to undermine the ownership and try and get a stake in the club? Suppose they’d probably also push for crazy stuff like football people in high positions within the club

They could for sure, but they don’t want to risk what’s left of their reputations by taking a job that’s actually hard; the type of job that Fergie banged on about incessantly in his books was essential for any young manager’s development, until it suited him to do a 180 on the subject.

Bunks likes this.

Regarding the co92 and Mourinho: he has Nicky Butt coaching academy players.

Ricky Scabrigiania is the u23 coach and he's been at the the club before under Fergie iirc?

Nice balance.

Yes, i seriously believe Woodward was made up when he got Jose.

Despite how we're performing at the moment Woodward got a proven winner in Jose, but more importantly he secured his own position against what could have been a real threat to his own power.

As we've all said on this thread (with the exception of Butt) one of the consequences of Jose’s appointment is that it has scuppered the onward march of the Class of ’92.

Fair point about Butt, although wasn’t he already there? Sacking him would be a bit aggressive even for Mourinho

Plus Mou doesn’t care about the academey etc etc.

Edit - he was deffo already there because LvG referred to him as Nicky Buck

Giggs mentions Guardiola and Zidane to bolster his argument for a shot, but both of those had the humility to at least begin with the youth players. Not Giggsy, apparently it’s beneath him. He thinks that being an assistant somehow qualifies you for the top job, but how did that work out for Kidd, Phelan, Muelensteen and the rest? Being an assistant only teaches you how someone else does the job, not how to manage games and make the big calls yourself; how to adjust, manage egos and pivot away from shit that doesn’t work to stuff that does.

His sense of entitlement is starting to get on my nerves tbh.

The strange thing is that he admitted afterwards that merely being a caretaker for those four pretty meaningless games wrecked his head

It would have been pretty sad to see the fans turn on a legend. Better this way.
