£15m was the rumour back then.

Double that now and it would still be rejected.

Maybe moyes barely played him last season in order to keep his price low so we could sign him.(given that he knew he was going to united for a while) Obviously didnt do the deal, signed a less talented belgian for £27m and barkley has proceeded to blow up....

Maybe he's just ready now and he wasn't last year. Didn't do a huge amount when he was out on loan did he? Wasn't he injured as well?

Not a chance. Would've been a massive gamble, more so than Fellaini.

He's only started developing the last 12 months, great talent but a lot of unsuccessful loans.

Also doesn't play in the position we require.

Stop speaking sense. Apparently he was the complete package we needed in August

No way would Barkley have joined United so soon into his career. I've read the lad is a bit more loyal to him home town team than Rooney

Maybe we'd do better trying to get players who aren't in teams better than ours which are 6 points ahead of us.

He's a superb player.

Remember watching him whilst on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and he played in a deeper role, thought he was very good but didn't kick on from then.

He's a bit like Fabio, lots of loans but yet to develop consistency in his game.

In half a season he has probably booked a ticket to Rio and fair play to the lad. There is no way he'll be an Everton player next season if he carries on like this and his inconsistencies could be ironed out under the right manager.

Let's hope we appoint him then.

One swallow does not make a summer

Don't forget this is his first season in the spot light, people were saying the same thing about Benteke this time last year.
