Who would you buy in the summer?

Given we have all the money, let us pontificate on the premiss that we have made it back into the Champions League.

Who would you buy to sort the squad out?

I guess for simplicity it's worth listing who'd be sacked off as well.

Obviously some of these choices are more personal preference than what I believe Van Gaal will do:

van Persie
Rafael
Fellaini
Lindegaard

Incoming

Hummels
Laporte or Marquinhos
Danilo
Schneiderlin
Bale / Dybala / some other worldie forward who has genuine pace (I don't genuinely think Bale would leave Madrid but if he did, it would be to United NQAT)

So three quarters of a new first choice defence, an energetic midfielder who's good on the ball & some pace up front that could play across the line.

I've resigned myself to Pogba going to Madrid btw.

I think that's realistic.

messi must surely relish a fresh challenge. ronaldo is close to retirement. the opportunity for them to play together would be irresistable.

hummels and schweinsteiger's lack of pace probably wouldn't be too exposed. and aguero as a non-playing cripple cheerleader would annoy city the same way hargreaves annoyed us. lahm is like nevilles p & g rolled into one.

Yes there is. There are absolutely shitloads of good players, historically United haven't gone out & purchased those players with reputations either, they've made them. Sometimes they have been expensive, but the likes of Carrick were excellent domestic players rather than international worldies. Schneiderlin would come under that kind of category, & really should have been bought for £20m last summer.

Not the worst idea, I left Rooney off the initial list on the basis that we can't let van Persie, Falcao & Rooney all go for example. I'd be tempted though.

It's going to be tough to attract the 'elite' without Champions League football but we don't seem to be very good at buying so called star names anyway.

I'd bring Tevez & Pogba back to the Club immediately.
Couldn't care less about their 'attitude' & past history with the Club.
I'd get Nani back off loan too.
We also need an experienced centre half & a top drawer right back.

I'd ship out Fellaini, Evans, Rafael, Van Persie, Falcao, Jones, Van Gaal...

Howedes not Hummels please. He's a much better player.

Lahm would be nice on paper but I have a feeling he would be like Albert Ferrer was when he turned up at Chelsea aged 31 or whatever he was.

If we want an experienced full back how bout Piszczek? He's excellent. He's the wrong side of 29 but younger than Lahm.
