I'm paraphrasing but it was something along the lines of...
He admitted that when he first joined united he was completely overawed and felt quite clueless, but one of the first bits of advice Fergie ever gave him was that when praising players you should only ever use two words - "well done" - nothing more was ever necessary. So, a couple of weeks into his tenure, the United players got back to the dressing room after a cagey 1-0 win and once they'd settled, Steve addressed them all with a simple "well done lads" . Cue Keano standing up, getting in his face and telling him "Don't you dare say well done to us because that was £#%&!ing shite," "it might be good at Derby but this is Manchester United and we should be doing better than that." Or something to that effect. Keano. My submitted question was "One of the first things you did when appointed England manager was dropping David Beckham - do you regret it?" but he seemingly prefered to answer questions like "WHo's the best player you ever trained (Scholes btw)" and "Are there any good players in Newcastle's academy (no btw)" |
