Depends how bad it was. In the current climate he may never get clearance again; look how Cech had to wear that stupid hat for the rest of his career before docs would sign off. A centre forward can’t do that.

It was an accident of course but I £#%&!ing hate David Luiz.

Why not? Cristian Chevu of Inter also had his skull fractured during a game, and wore a stupid hat when he was back playing. And he was an outfield player not a goalkeeper.

He's Romanian though. He's used to wearing stupid hats in public.

Maybe. They’re not going to do much to protect the brain from another head to head though.

Do they get a choice in the stupid hat? Or is just any stupid hat ok?

Well by that criterion, Jiménez is Mexican...

I once had a nightmare where Carsten Jancker had a collision and his head cracked open like the alien in Men in Black with a little creature inside its head.

Horrific image and I've always had a soft spot for Carsten since then.

Luiz should be banned. Reckless, thoughtless, the lot.

Who was that Hull player who had to retire (Mason?) due to his issues.

I'm fairly sure Samuel Kuffour's head exploded when Ole scored.

Ryan Mason.

Wasn't a magnificent player but still sad nonetheless.

Even a lot of their own fans are, not unreasonably, fuming about it.

I thought the refs had the power to send the player off if they consider them to be suffering a suspected concussion?

Well yes, which further raises the question of why it didn't happen.
