Why not? Cristian Chevu of Inter also had his skull fractured during a game, and wore a stupid hat when he was back playing. And he was an outfield player not a goalkeeper.

how the £#%&! can arsenal have allowed Luiz to continue?? they should get some sort of fine for allowing that to happen

I thought the refs had the power to send the player off if they consider them to be suffering a suspected concussion?
