I'm gonna read it literally as the 'best striker' and that is obv Ruud van Nistelrooy.

If you were to choose any of those players and they had to finish a chance with your life depending on it - you are strapped to a gurney. Drip full of Windolene attached intravenously to your wrist. Richard Keys' hairy hands on the tap. Televised. Michael Owen on the panel begging for you to get put down.

Who are you choosing from that list? You're choosing RvN.
Not how I'd have put it but totally agree. If we'd had peak Zlatan, it could have been a different conversation but we didn't so it isn't.

"Best" can be reasonably defined to mean many things, so I've gone with favourite. Cantona.

Van Nistelrooy is the best striker I've seen in the shirt. For a couple of seasons at United he was the best striker in world football.

Rooney was absolutely world class, and the better overall footballer, but in terms of a pure striker, Van Nistelrooy was the best.

On the basis that Cantona wasn't a striker and Rooney wasn't as good I'm going to do as the thread title suggests and choose the best which was RVN

Clearly Ruud and Rooney as a pair.

However.... I'm choosing my own definition of 'best'.

Who inspires me? Who do I think about playing like when I'm dozing off to sleep?

Actually by that logic I could have voted for a few of them....I love Eric so much still.........

But for some reason....Berbatov is a United player.

Cool. Aloof. Classy. He just oozed class so much. Some of his goals....man alive......what a player.

So many legends but just wanted to point out Berbs was an utterly, utterly brilliant striker.

depends. does he have to fight to earn the chance? is the chance an overhead kick? is it outside the area?

I £#%&!ing love hughes. would rather play next to him than any of those, too. maybe teddy.

why is there no "I just want to cry" option?

It's just a chance. You don't get told beforehand. Likely a ball flashed across the 6 yard box though following a break down the wing.

1 chance.
Windolene.
Hairy hands.

Your choice.

in terms of pure out and out striker, then it is easily Ruud, others like Eric and Rooney had more to their games, but Ruud has been our best pure stiker since Denis
