There is value out there, it's stupid to compare it to City's ridiculous way of going about it. United are in need of investment in the squad, we sold the best player in the world for a world record £80m after winning the league 3 years on the trott and getting to 2 CL finals back to back, winning 1 of them, we should have been in the strongest position we could possibly be in to strengthen the team, but didn't. If the Glazers were not here and we sold Ronaldo for £80m do you think we'd have signed Michael Owen?
You can't £#%&!ing help yourself can you

Tbh Dunk i've barely said out on it really. I'm just debating this normally for a change. What I say stands imo, no way would Manchester United without the glazers have signed Michael £#%&!ing Owen has a replacement ffs. Oh and Tevez left.

Can't believe City have signed Silva.

We should've thrown £30m and £160k a week at David Silva or £30m and £200k a week at Yaya Toure or maybe £30+m and £100+k a week at Di Maria. All good value and about 'the going rate'. It's the only way to improve the squad.

He can't really mate, we haven't got any money.

Not really no, Owen did alright for us last season and had he been available at the end of the season when Rooney was injured we'd probably have won the league. The shirt number doesn't bother me though and he wasn't brought in to replace Ronaldo.

The fact he wasn't (I agree there) makes giving him that shirt all the more incongruous then........

You might not be bothered by such things - but quite a few fans are, after all

Yes, you're right. If only there was some indicator that he would end up injured when we needed him most, eh? Like, say, a horrendous track-record for getting injured all the time.

It's just impossible to predict these things. Unless of course you've bothered to follow football for the last 8 years then you'd have seen it coming a mile off.

In that a loan was secured against the club.
