Very rare that Bayern are on the wrong side of a trade.

Hargreaves played under a much better manager for his season.

And we're judging Schweinsteiger's value less than one year into a three year contract?

Well yeah........Hargreaves was signed aged 27. He was coming to his prime, we got one good year out of him and would have got more bar his injuries. No one could have predicted how bad it ended up.

Whereas we all knew when we signed Schweinsteiger that he was on the descending curve of his career. But I don't necessarily think he's been a flop. He's played well when fit but Bayern knew they were selling a player winding down.

Played great when he came on against Liverpool. Or was it West Ham? I forget. I want to forget...

Was playing very well before he got injured. Team started losing after that.

Bargain.

Another great bit of business by the man entrusted to build us a squad.

£250m in just under 2 years. And that's what we have to show for it tonight.

He's a good player if surrounded by quality but put him in a shit side and it's a different matter

To be fair to him tonight he was trying to play intricate passes with Marouane Fellaini, which is just a fools errand.

I think the telling fact is that none of our midfielders look consistently good in this team,

A diminished player but a good one to have around the place.

£#%&!ing state of him looks about 2 stone overweight, every time the camera focuses on him he's blowing out his fat arse. Finished. State of our midfield ffs. None of the @#%&!s can get around the pitch

I think he's been our most negative, entertainment quashing, player all season. I do admit he's a fantastic pointer though. Never misses an opportunity to point at space

I got in a lot of hot water for suggesting the Schweinsteiger deal wasn't as exciting as the giddiness that came with it suggested.

My feeling was if Bayern didn't want him, why should we? Sure he has bags of experience (you're bound to when you hit 30) and has been a winner, but those 2 things alone can't stop time.
