Default Match scheduling.

I note with some interest, a bit, not much, that our next league game is a fortnight away.

FA cup on the 5th.

So we flog the players with 4 games in as many days - over Xmas no less - then give them ten days off.

Why?

Put lots of football on the television over the period when everyone is off work or school and home all day. This will maximise exposure for tv advertisers who pay Sky tv.

Looking forward to some journo saying that this is why england are shit in tournaments

Ignoring the fact that a winter break, for example, would mean more matches played later in the season and the more obvious fact that England generally have turd players

Was joke.

But here's Jose's take on things, with a withering rebuttal from Richard Keyes and Andrew Grey.

The Premier league is now a Christmas tradition in so many foreign countries as traditional as Turkey. They will never change the schedule as its probably the biggest usp they have.

Wenger and his mates have a point, its a joke that some clubs who've had 2 days rest are playing teams who have been off for 5 / 6 days. Its not fair and could be scheduled a lot better.

Always on the cards once they’d accepted telly money.

If it wasn’t for the shitshows vs Leicester and Soton, we’d be ok and scoffing at the idea, esp with a ten day break looming. Is a bit silly sometimes tbf.

The Champions League final is 26 May and the WC kicks off on 14 June.

Our players will be knackered without practically any rest.
