It’s easy to forget he is still young. He will make the wrong decision. Sometimes he will look like he’s the best in the world. Other times he will frustrate you. I think he’s quite quite a bit of “I have to score every time I have the ball”about him which isn’t bad to have considering how timid our goals have been all season.

The fact he’s effortlessly switched the right and looked just as good if not better than the left will tell anyone he’s going to be a top player.

He requires patience, he will make mistakes and will be frustrating. But with every game he plays he will get a little better

That the next step for him. He’s young enough to improve and he’s improved a lot in the last year. His decision making is no worse than the likes of Ronaldo or Giggs at the same age. And he’s such a threat. You don’t quite know what he’s going to do, but he keeps coming back, works his arse off and impacts games. That’s enough for now. The rest will come. He’s going to be a monster in a few years.

Post.

For about a year abus and most the media hammered Ronaldo for no end product, the step overs...

He reminds me a lot of Ronaldo. You can’t bully him. He’s not physically there yet, but bounces back up. You can’t knock his confidence. Rarely injured. He’s contributing more and more as well from starting games. Only a few months ago we were saying he isn’t ready to start game and now he’s our most effective wide player and keeping a £70m signing out the team.

In the moment, it’s frustrating when he picks the wrong option, but this is what ‘giving youth a chance’ is all about.

We haven’t had two top prospects like Mainoo and Garnacho at the same time for a long time.

Red face

Gentle reminder that Marlo has spent the best part of a year subtly arguing that United should be signing Ollie Watkins as our starting striker, whilst simultaneously criticising Hojlund virtually every week this season for being a dud.

And bigging up Emery, who manages the team we’ve just taken six points off this season, as having done a brilliant job compared to ETH.

I also think it’s a good thing he still has the confidence after #@&%!ing up to attempt to drive forward and keep shooting. It’s very easy to go into a shell and go safety first. You need big %@#$&!s to play for us. Garnacho has the confidence and arrogance

Being young doesn’t make him immune to criticism. He’s not going to be perfect. But he needs to learn within the game.

And absolutely nobody said it does

Point is, you expect the errors he makes because of his age and experience. And you still critique them and flag them when they happen.

Pretty much said that in the post you quoted, but agreed

To be fair to garnacho, his mistakes are borne of naivety. It’s clear to see improvement almost week by week. Compare and contrast with the guy on the other wing, who should be the finished article by now, and isn’t. He’s still making the same mistakes, shooting when he should be passing, shooting when he should be crossing.

Garnacho and Mainoo are great.I’ve watching them both play. We need to appreciate them and appreciate that, at this age and stage of their careers, there are going to be a few rough edges, and a little inconsistency. I can life with that.

Trophies won in England?

Do you think he’ll finish top 3 and win a trophy on his first season?

couldnt really understand a word emery said in his post match interview
he was apparently speaking english though as no subtitles / translator present
in the long run that can't be a good thing for villa
and he wouldn't last at utd with that kind of language barrier so comparing him to 10h is pointless nqat

This is key and I thought we got the balance better than we have in most way games. It’s a fine line: on the one hand, one of our biggest threats is that ball over the top (especially against a team playing a high line, like Villa) but sometimes we just need to take the sting out. Not helped by uahibt players whose instinct is to look for that ball (Bruno, Cas, Rashford)

The winning goal really was excellent. We had a spell on the ball where not much looked like it was happening, but we suddenly sprung to life. We picked our moment, I thought.

Deserves credit for the The Scottish Player sub too. We’ve been critical of his in-game management, but he got it spot on today.

He did take them over in 16th sitting below Leeds and 3 points off bottom spot…

He’s done a super job. Let’s not pretend though that managing United is in any way comparable to managing Villa…

I've not been this buzzed about a result in ages. Wolves was a marvellous goon but this gives us momentum and also sticks it right up £#%&!ing Villa.

Genuinely felt the worst would happen after they scored but we weathered it and landed a KO blow. Lovely stuff.

Thought Cass, Maguire, Dalot and Onana were quality too. Praying Shaw is straight back because Linda at LB is absolutely awful to watch.

Love it when players get angry at an opposition player who’s getting subbed for not hurrying . What do they expect him to do, sprint as fast as he can?
The balls on them. They routinely show up at OT with time wasting at the forefront of their footballing menu. Martinez dancing in front of the Stretford End was one of those days- absolutely sickening the amount of time that was spewed and not added on. Awful #@&%!s.

Buzzing with our first win away to top 6 since Spurs in Oct 2021. Thought we had blown it when Luiz equalised but fair play to The Scottish Player for late winner.
