They won a lot of trophies in the 80s for £#%&!s sake It's like saying Mick McCarthy should have Wolves at the top of the Premiership because they were a massive club in the 50s. Irrelevant.

Their net spend since 2004 has been 3.9m per season. This is below the likes of; Stoke (£4.8m), Sunderland (£14.5m), Villa(£15.4m), Spurs.

If you discount net spend and look at the amount they have spent on players; Spurs have spent £140m more than them over the same period. Their net spend being £13m more per season. Yet Moyes has his side regularly finishing above them. I'd say that is the sign of a decent manager.

moyes' record over the last, what, six or seven years has been tremendous. on that budget, everton should be relegation candidates and moyes has had them consistently the closest challengers to the top four. as coracao says, that is an incredible achievement. to put it into perspective, if hughes gets city into fourth this season after spending £#%&! knows how much money it will be seen as a big achievement and a success, correctly imo.

they play dull football, true, but i think anybody expecting a team which has, effectively, no budget whatsoever, to play creative and expansive football is living in fantasy land. needs must and moyes full well knows he doesn't have the players and can't afford the players to do that. and, to be fair, everton may not have much flair but they are not an allardyce-style long ball team either.
