Chelsea complete Deco deal

It is understood Deco has agreed a two-year deal in West London and that he will cost Chelsea a fee in the region of 10million euros (£7.9m).

The 30-year-old becomes new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's first signing, despite the fact that the Brazilian does not officially take over at Stamford Bridge until Tuesday.

A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Chelsea football club is delighted to confirm the signing of Deco from FC Barcelona."

Summer speculation consistently linked Deco with a move to Chelsea and the arrival of Scolari stoked the rumours.

Former Portugal boss Scolari coached Deco, who impressed at Euro 2008, at international level and it was thought that both parties were keen for a reunion.

The Blues could view Deco as a possible replacement for Frank Lampard, who is being strongly linked with a move to Internazionale

£7.9m is an absolute piss take when you consider some of the prices quoted for dross these days...I dont care if hes 30. He's world class and will continue to be for at least another 2 years.

He really isn't mate.

Hope you're right though and he doesn't make it here but I just can't see it....look at who he's got company in midfield and he's got plenty of Portuguese players around him aswell to settle in fine.

He always performs under Scolari. I don't see how this is anything but a brilliant signing. Guess we can just hope it doesn't work out.
