I'm pretty sure Schmeichel announced he was leaving around November of his final season. So we had plenty of time to look for a replacement

Choosing Bosnich is Moyesque.

(Although I vaguely remember hearing Ferie didn't want him and Edwards signed him while Ferie was on holiday, on the sole grounds that he was available on a free, could someone confirm??)

Think you could be right

But like I said, Fergie more than likely wanted to do it on the cheap

Mark £#%&!ing Bosnich...

Should have signed Rio from West Ham, was clear as day he'd turn into a great player

Worked out in the end though.

Bit like the strategy and plan in place for when Fergie retired then wasn't it?!

At least Djemba had some logic to it. Had done well in a strong league; came through at one of the best academies in France. Was playing for Cameroon at the Confederations Cup that summer.

Some of the latter ones were just bizarre. Lindegaard and Manucho had barely featured for their counties. We signed Buttner after Euro 2012 and he'd got nowhere near the Dutch squad. Guys like De Laet turning up from Championship clubs

This around the time Fergies scouts were telling him there wasn't any value in the market and that no midfielders out there were better than Clevz.

Don’t think it was the scouts making the decisions

Don’t know much about him tbh. 20, captained Scotland, playing at cb, not his usual LB. must be better than the shower of shite we have.

I've seen him a bit and he's quick and can cross a ball, so yes better than what we have.

Here's a news article from the time. We were also linked with Bosnich before then as it says;

He has since made his name with Aston Villa but his contract runs out next summer when he will become a free agent in the summer under the Bosman ruling.
The reason with signed the fat £#%&!er

Trying to think of the Keepers around at that time? Wasn't Buffon making his name with Parma around that time?
