The Ukraine war started in Feb 22. The charges related to losses over the 19/20, 20/21 and 21/22 seasons. So a bit much to blame it on that.

The sponsorships were also with companies owned by Usmanov. Who’s the business partner of Moshiri, and was regarded as heavily involved at Everton - to the point he was interviewing managers, and had his nephew on the board. So they were basically bullshit contracts to funnel his own money into the club and get them out of the hole they were in.

Tough shit.

Am i getting this right in that a large chunk of City's charges relate to them being deliberately obstructive in the investigation process?

The Premier League need to stop being so £#%&!ing passive and accommodating and just find City guilty and meat out punishment. It's absolutely farcical they've allowed them to obfuscate and tie the whole process up in knots for years on end.

If this were any other club they'd have been dealt with and had the book thrown at them, but because we're not dealing with a football club here, we're dealing with what is effectively an asset of an arab state, there's the distinct possibility of political leverage being used to drag this out and make it go away with as little punishment as possible.

If this was us, we'd already be expunged from every historical reference.

It’s pretty obvious they’re absolutely terrified of city. If they punish them properly, their brand is tarnished. If they don’t, their brand is tarnished.
English football got itself into a right old mess allowing clubs to be owned by entire petrostates.

I'm sure they stopped co-operating with the investigation back in 2018 or something, no rush lads ah

I hate the premier league and never watch a game unless it's us playing. We're the one team in the country who never really needed it. We were just hitting our stride again when this shitshow kicked in. I'm also drunk.

City know their lawyers will get them off charges, they might as well just laugh in the face of authority because nothing will happen

Everton seek to harness ‘fuel’ of points penalty as fans plan series of protests

Quote:
The club’s appeal against the biggest sporting sanction in Premier League history will be submitted this week. A series of protests by Everton fans will start with a demonstration outside the Premier League’s headquarters in London on Friday.

Evertonians have raised more than £40,000 to fund protests against the Premier League since the verdict was announced. As well as the demonstration in London on Friday, a plane will fly over the Etihad Stadium during Manchester City’s game against Liverpool on Saturday carrying a message to the organisation.

During Everton’s televised home game against Manchester United on Sunday the entire crowd of more than 38,000 will be invited to brandish red cards bearing the Premier League logo and the word “corrupt”.
Hope when they say 'entire crowd' that includes the away end.

Can fully understand Evertonians anger at this, it was their previous ownership that has got them in this £#%&!ed up position, the same ownership that a lot of Everton fans have been protesting against for years. Then the owner that got them into this mess flogged the club to an investment firm and £#%&!ed off before this punishment hit. What £#%&!ing good does that do? The person that the Premier League thought was a fit owner and got them into this mess has long gone ffs.

If the Premier League did it's job properly then it's quite possible that Moshiri wouldn't have been able to put Everton into the position where they get given the "biggest sporting sanction in Premier League history". Although if the Premier League did it's job properly then there wouldn't be oil states owning a number of Premier League clubs, and we wouldn't have the Glazers embedded into our club like tiks.

Pah. Crazy talk.

Seriously though, I agree, the premier league is a complete mess. They've allowed English football to be trampled all over.

In a way it's quite handy though that Everton have got this punishment as it's increased the attention and outrage on city , and will make it much, much harder for them to sweep it under the carpet by fining them ten bob and a pickled egg. Everyone hates city now and wants them destroyed.
