Default Injuries in football hit new high

What a surprise, who'd have thought flogging players with endless international qualifiers, covid 2020 euro catch up, world cups sandwiched in the middle of the seasons and summer pre season tournaments across the globe is it any wonder the players are breaking down left right and centre.

The daft amounts of injury time are undoubtedly having an effect too. Sometimes it’s like adding an extra 10% of playing time on at the end of a game.

I’m sick to the back teeth of international breaks. They’ve always been an inconvenience but it feels like every couple of weeks there’s another one now. Obviously hasn’t been helped by there being a whole World Cup in the middle of last season.

Fatigue probably made worse by England getting giddier than ever in the run up to the tournaments. No doubting they have a talented squad but they aren’t winning anything under Southgate.

I don’t mind the breaks simply because it means United aren’t playing.

Players are being flogged to death though. It needs somebody substantial to retire from international football and see how he’s treated by FIFA. Banned from domestic football?

It basically started when they stopped the season for Covid and then resumed it 4 months later. Then they rushed to get the 19/20 season finished, immediately went straight into 20/21 season with barely a month off. Then they had Euro 2020 straight after, before starting the 21/22 season with a world cup in the middle of it. It's been absolutely relentless since July 2020.

Add to that all the other bullshit like the nations league and half-baked pre season tours and it's no wonder the players are breaking down.

It’s the sheer self-importance of the football industry.

The world is going through a global health crisis on a scale unprecedented in the modern age, people dying with their families not able to say goodbye, and businesses going bump at a rate of knots.

But heaven forbid some football matches which have been schedule don’t end up taking place, that would be too much for people to bear.

£#%&!ers.
