I'd rather not spend an evening watching 20 years of the competition thats done nothing but kick us in the balls for 18 of the 20 years we've been in it.

Best period was the 90s and some of the early 2000s. Competition has become much worse in recent years.

Those Chelsea v Liverpool games were a £#%&!ing awful mess. Everything that Europe's top club competition shouldn't be about.

Give me Dynamo Kiev v Real Madrid (1999) or Fudbalski Klub Crvena zvezda v Fußball Club Bayern München (1991) over that any day.

I remember it well, pol.

Decent atmosphere. Had my red flare in hand, pol.

Exactly. Everyone's got their hard luck stories. Madrid not been in the final for 11 years. Juve didn't make enough of their team in the mid-late '90s. Even Barca feel they should have retained the trophy when hailed as the greatest side ever. Look at Bayern ffs - losing like they did in '99 and taking a penalty shootout defeat to that Chelsea side in their own stadium. Nobody is ever fully satisfied.

I do think Fergie might feel he underachieved a little in Europe, but everyone has their regrets in the competition.
