Indeed. So is Rooney really the problem? Can none of the three managers we have had since manage to review Fergie's tactics and re-use them?

Players are allowed to try passes that are not 100% guaranteed to reach there intended destination, without fear of being dropped for three weeks for loosing the ball.

Games moved on, teams like Southampton / Leicester are in your face at home We'd won a lot of games in the tunnel.

Fergie won the title with that squad in 2013. The game cannot have moved on more than the squad has improved on paper ffs.

That was one of the worst teams to win the league in a long time. They were also dull to watch.

So the style of play had already been ingrained into the players. But they were winning. What's changed? Has one season of Moyes done this?

Every bit as good as the 3 winners that followed. Look how we played against Madrid as well, that team is underrated if anything.

Basically, Mourinho is currently where van Gaal found himself in 2014. He's got a mess to clean up and monies spent matter not a jot, there is still a ton more to be spent, or players to be found from the youth set up. The only way it's going to work is if he's going to be given time to get shit wrong and let the players bed in and let them mould into a team, exactly as LvG was doing and having some success with until the masses ran out of the required patience.

He's going to have to set up defensively and play shit football for a bit until the defence can be relied upon and the midfield functions, this may take a couple of Windows to put right as well, there's no quick fix.

Which is what was happening under LVG whether you loved or loathed him. It was happening. Yet after our first major trophy win in however many years the plan was ripped up and it was right back to square one.

The club does itself no favours at all.

All true but how long was LVG gonna be around anyway? Another season? Two max? Then it's rip it up again. Can't knock the Jose appointment but he does need a couple of seasons at least. Not 9 £#%&!ing games interrupted by £#%&!ing internationals.

Then he goes completely £#%&!ing mental in his third and you need a new manager anyway.

Though with us he appears to be cutting straight to the chase.

Very true. Whether you wanted him in or lvg to stay, he was never magically just going to sort things out. The squad has problems. Mentally as much as anything else. Too many shitbags.

He's not helping himself with some indivual choices, but no manager is going to make all the decisions we want (that we don't always all agree on anyway). Moyes didn't, lvg didn't and Fergie didn't. If he got us playing well, I'm not really arsed who is doing it. Its when he's playing Fellaini basically up front and it isn't working that it baffles me.

Sunday was a bad one, but again, it didn't tell us anything we don't already know. We have our issues, but so does the rest of the league. Which is why we're about as far off the top as we were before we got 2 points out of 9.
