Don't normally agree with marlo, but we do tend to overplay these days, and our build up play can be ponderous at times..

thought that wellbeck got caught back on his heels a lot, doesn't seem to anticipate things as well as he should, macheda for me was the better of the front two, obertan was good at times but needs to improve his crossing, less said about gibson the better. I'd agree with various criticism of anderson, he looked totally uninterested, very sloppy in fact, regardless of the lack of importance of the game it was rather disappointing performance.

wellbeck and obertan can come out of that game with their hands held high. solid performances by them.

gibson as ive said before won't be at ot next season.

did michael owen actually come on?

macheda just isn't there yet.

rafael needs coaching and is too rash and immature in his tackling.

bad day at the office for big andy but anyone would struggle to do well playing with liam miller mk II.

Wanted some entertainment.£#%&!ing hell, was it that dab throughout? Anderson get any better?

And are we just going to go through because of a better head to head with CSKA ?

Needed his strongest squad for this, and then maybe play this team against wolfsburg, but no, we always make life hard for us dont we.

I dont see the point in starting a team that raw and disjointed all together. Surely it would be more beneficial for Macheda to play with Rooney/Owen and the same goes for Wellbeck. Gibson would do better in with the first choice midfield, Anderson - same. I dont think we learn a thing from these matches.

Off to Germany now with all the big guns playing pre Aston Villa That said, Pompey are looking good eh

Can't argue with that.
I thought at least Scholes, Owen & Evra would have started tonight.

We've got a League Cup tie next week. You play the 'Kids' then FFS.

Thought we were poor second half. Very dissapointing.
Very nervy & casual in the final third...either trying to be too clever or making a mess of every long range effort.
Macheda should stop giving the 'pout' to the TV camera's during the Champions League theme & concentrate more on getting in the £#%&!ing 6-yard box on the end of things.

can't argue with any of that.

the most disappointing thing is the total lack of any sort of cohesion between the players in these games. The passing at times was so pedestrian and totally lacking in imagination. Our young centre forwards seem to be better at recieving the ball 40 yards from goal and laying it off sideways than getting in good goal scoring positions, which is puzzling.

Obviously the fact that besiktas were by that time playing with a back 5 with 3 midfielders parked infront of them didn't help. But make no mistakes, they are £#%&!ing awful. It's no coincidence they've only scored 2 goals in the whole competition. If we'd had anything resembling our first team out we'd have ruined them. Too many youngsters in the team today.

In the carling cup you can field a team like that, but not at this level because even the worst teams are savvy enough to just run the game down.

Yep - he basically did a Darren Gibson impression when he came on.

Low frequency, low quality passing.

High frequency, low quality shooting.

And barely a decent tackle between them.:bi::bi:

As with the CSKA game G Nev spent the last 20 minutes in the right wing position, unmarked in acres of space. The difference was that no £#%&!er lifted their head and found him with a pass. Instead the ball kept coming wide left for Macheda/Welbeck to make a pigs-ear of it.

Him & Southgate were a £#%&!ing joke.
Talk about delivering the ABU cliche's on a plate.

Southgate on the Evra 'Penalty' - "makes a change for them not to get one" HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!!! You funny £#%&!er!!! What originality & wit!
Funnily enough, we get hardly any penalties...anywhere. But why let facts get in the way aye?
I wonger if Steeeeeevie Geeeeeee would have been awarded that???? Hmmm

It really was amusing last week hearing Townsened & Cascarino on TalkSport talking about 'Fair Play' & what a disgrace France are...when they pretended to be another Nationality in order to play International Football.
