i would prefer Dier but Matic would be a good alternative ,we need somebody in the middle who will get his foot in and do the simple pass ,this would enable Pogba to burst forward much more in the areas that he is dangerous in . never been a big fan of Carrick who is a great passer when given space ,but when he is closed down quickly he simply vanishes . Matic to me is a bit similar to Carrick ,not so good at the longer pass but he closes opponents down more quickly and wins a lot of 50/50 balls and gets his team going forward .i would not say no to Matic and once again it would be an improvment , and crucially he seems available .

We agreed a deal for him (or with him) last year. No idea why it didn't happen but he definitely told one of his close friends that he was signing for us.
