Default What is Ronaldo worth?

If a 28/29 (?) Zidane was worth 50 million then Ronaldo must be worth 100 million. Given his age and global image I'd say that's conservative.

I'd say 100 million is a fair price for him. He's got an image that's akin Beckham's with the talent of Zidane and he's still only 22.

Nicely put, I concur. Will someone kindly disagree with us.

The Glazers would take 40 +. Definitely.

Anyone denying that is deluded.

Zidane's fee came in a time of huge fees. Those days are over. Of the world's 10 biggest transfer fees ever, the most recent was 2002, when Ronaldo went from Inter to Real.

In fact, except for a couple of silly-huge Chelsea buys, almost all of the top 50 transfer fees of all time date from before 2002.

Ronaldo wouldn't go for more than 35m in today's market, and even that is a stretch.

He's worth more to United than he is Real or Barca, simply because he's a potentially world class player that can play the English game. There are more players that can perform in Spain and Italy at that level than there are that can play in England. I'd say really only Henry and Ronaldo can truly play anywhere. I'm not so sure Ronaldinho or Kaka would be the same if they played in England. For that reason, United shouldn't even talk about a fee less than 50 million.

I also don't buy the line of reasoning that the Glazers would sell him for a set fee or 40 or 50 million, simply because, lets face it, he's the main factor in separating United from scrapping for 3 or 4 place like the Arse and Scouse, and since the debt almost requires CL advancement, so selling him would likely damage their future cash flows.

Very good point. I think there are perhaps some top defenders who would do well in England, but amongst attacking players, even enormous talents like Crespo and Shevchenko (tho coming on lately) have had difficulty adapting.

You forget how much money was wasted on the likes of Anelka. According to Wikipedia his total combined transfer fees amount to just under £70m

It would take more to buy Rooney than Ronaldo.

Rightly so as over the last 3 years he's been the superior footballer.

As he will be over the next 3 years.
