Part of me thinks it’s just a shirt number and we should stop living in the past. Part of our problem in recent years has been constant pining for years gone by - for the “good old days”. Ole, god bless him, was the peak of this line of thought.

But then I’d love to see it become synonymous with special players once again.

I've always thought a united no7 should be an inspirational figure at the club. Maybe that's just because i grew up with it being Robbo and then Eric.

It’s nostalgic bullshit. The moment they gave it to inferior players the romance was gone .

there is nothing particularly special about our number 7 shirt.

but it still should never have been given to mason £#%&!ing mount. earn it, even if it has been rendered somewhat meaningless by the likes of memphis, sanchez and di maria.

to be honest, those three are more of a weight round mount's neck than the expectations based on robbo and eric. "oh, shit.... they think I'm going to be an overpriced disappointment."

Yep. Georgie was more an 11 for me.
