Manchester United have activated an option to extend defender Victor Lindelof’s contract to 2025.

Lindelof’s current deal was due to expire next summer, but United had the chance to extend it a further 12 months and have opted to do so.

Bit of a double whammy this one as it shows that the new regime are now making football decisions, onwards soldiers!

Hot on the heels of the Wan-Bissaka contract extension and the relief that Onana will not be going to AFCON until after the spurs game we now have the news we have all been hoping for, Martial is discussing a new contract with the club:

Ten Hag said: “We are talking with Rapha Varane and Anthony Martial and we have triggered the options on (Victor) Lindelof, Hannibal (Mejbri), (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka.”

Don’t wish to get things out of proportion but I’m 100% done with the club if they offer Martial an extension.

Thought it was some kind of bad dream when I heard it on Sky earlier tonight.

Yep, presumed it was some kind of gallows humour banter. It simply cant be right. It’s like asking Fred west back to carry on with the patio business.

Martial getting a new contract would be incredible.

Can't see how he fits into ETHs ethos or plans...maybe the same sort of talks as DDG had ...

Maybe they have to pretend to be interested to get anyone to offer anything for him? That has to be the only explanation.

But his contract is up - they’re talking about triggering an extension. It’s £#%&!ing mental.

Shit, of course. Def not one year left?

If so then perhaps they are trying to do the lad a favour by saying this in the hope he gets a signing on fee…

I mean, it’s not like we owe him anything and he’s made a fortune out of us but I suppose there’s no downside to us in helping him out…

I refuse to believe they could be even contemplating it for real.

That's just unbelievable if true. He's on 250k a week and scored 12 league goals since 2020. Who on earth thinks it would be good business to give him another year?

He's not getting a new contract. Same for Varane.
