I was listening to TalkSport after the Italy game or whichever it was that suddenly had the press pack declaring their undying love for Carrick the other week, and they were discussing England's none use of him, they essentially all agreed that you just couldn't drop Lampard or Gerrard and that the likes of Parker, Milner, Barry, Hargreaves et al were all much better players than Carrick at the time they were being picked ahead of him they just don't £#%&!ing get it all.

Fellaini or similar could be in the side for a while tbh

He's a very easy out ball isn't he, especially for our [british] central defenders when they are hurried. Better players in there could see Fellaini marginalised again, as could a powerhouse midfielder or a sparky type up front. tbf to Fellaini though he has linked up in combination down the left side of the pitch very well on this run, not just in the air.
Increasingly so, but again that's somewhat relative. Stick a Pogba in there instead and the whole thing goes to the next level hopefully.

I still think LvG will seek quicker and move sophisticated circulation of the ball than Fellaini is capable of longer term. But Fellaini deserves credit. Not only was the world against him last summer, he's very aware that if Benitez hadn't £#%&!ed CL qualification and a convenient injury, he'd be in Naples right now with the tag of the worst signing we ever made.

The way he's shaken off the stench of Moyes is impressive, tbf.

you'd like to think so, but you have to look at the back line first
