I used to love watching that 1982 side like many others and Socrates was £#%&!in immense along with Falcao, Junior, Eder, Zico et al.

I £#%&!in hated Rossi for the hat-trick that knocked them out.

Socrates' goal with the dust coming up off the goal line as Zoff lay on his arse

I'm too young to have seen him play, but he still became a bit of a hero of mine over the years after I read more and more about him and obviously saw clips of him in his prime, particularly from that '82 World Cup.

One of those people who was actually more than just a great footballer. RIP.
