Nobody has said it does. Cutting his teeth coaching the reserves would be his first step in any coaching career after all.

Not looking for him to replace fergie personally, just to do a good job with the reserves.

I think the fiasco that was Neville against Stoke may have convinced Fergie that now would be a good time to find something for him outside of playing. Hopefully anyway. Nev's apparently been going to a lot of Academy and Reserve games of late so it's obviously something he'd be interested in.
