I also seem to remember United handing Spurs near on £1 million for Alan Brazil in the mid 80's. £#%&! knows what we gave them for Garth Crooks

Nothing. He was only here on loan.

I get your point though.

But we can't afford the ones who are.

All we can afford nowadays is potential.

Dont see a big signing wanting that.

a big signing would be more likely for Midfield ?

Thoughts.
I do think the requirements have changed following Nani's progress and Rooney establishing himself as an almost complete striker. What we could probably do with is one of these Barca-type attacking players who play can right across the front, drift wide or central, just to give us another option. I'd be very happy to start any big game with Nani and Valencia either side of Rooney, with a three-man midfield. We need better options off the bench to cover all three, though.

Agree that if there's to be a major signing, it needs to be in midfield. That's been the case for several years.

Kevin Doyle has come on well and might be worth a shout and probably be prepared to play a back up role to Rooney.

Please god no.

New lad's just been interviewed on MuTv. Excellent English, and seems absolutely made-up to have signed up to the cause.
